(1) Did you know that Mountain Creek is named after the creek of the same name. During heavy rain events, the southern slopes of Buderim drain into this creek which is tidal for a short distance. It then flows into the Mooloolah River above the Cod Hole and the Traffic Bridge on the Nicklin Way.

(2) From 1864 to the 1880s, pine was rafted from the area to the timber depot on the Mooloolah River. We know that Mountain Creek Park, Saltbush's Mountain Creek Estate, and Hideaway Waters are the place we recognise as Mountain Creek today. In October 1982, the first lot of land was sold. 

(3) Interestingly, "Wicky Up" was the name of the original development proposed for the area, which later became known as Mountain Creek. Beaver Dredging was the development company that had initially proposed to build a waterfront holiday resort there. The land was purchased later by Saltbush Pty Ltd, which bought the 65.6 hectares of land in 1981. It was they who changed the name and developed a residential estate with an artificial lake instead.

There are excellent schools, hotels, shopping centres, a tennis centre, a gymnasium, an aquatics centre and dance schools.

It's not far to beautiful Mooloolaba beach, seven minutes to Sunshine Plaza and even conveniently closer to the local shops and schools. The parks in the area are plentiful. Brightwater Park and Glenfields Neighbourhood Park are fantastic, and there is also a great off-leash dog park in Cootamundra Drive that your best buddy will love.

Another of our favourite places is the Mountain Creek Recreation Trail, a lovely little circuit that explores various settings such as wetlands, creekside and forest trails. Flora and fauna are unique, so keep your eyes peeled to spot rainbow lorikeets and blue wrens, bush turkeys, swamp wallabies and lace monitor lizards.
